Michael Flaherty art exhibition – “the orbit of salt water”

May 29, 2009 By: jeremy Category: photographs

I popped along to the Lartigue museum this afternoon to view artist Michael Flaherty‘s exhibition. I was impressed.

Michael is a Kerryman, born and raised on the Dingle peninsular. There is a strong emphasis on the coastline in this exhbition, hardly surprising considering where he lives.

I had a brief word with the artist himself, who was positioned just inside the entrance to the museum. Sadly he had had virtually no visitors all day. Such a shame that such a talented artist has been located on the outskirts of town, well away from the main action of the festival.

I know its a writer’s festival, but there is so much more culturally going on in the town that seems to be relegated to second place in the organisers’ affections. I really hope that more people make the effort to view Michael’s work. Its well worth it.
